Creature Feature: Nessie
The Loch Ness Monster... Nessie... A phantom, long-necked creature rising out of the mists of a dark Scottish lake. Creepy, right?
Many stories have been told over the centuries and many theories exist as to whether or not Nessie really lives deep in the cold waters of Loch Ness.
Some speculate Nessie could be an elasmosaurus, a kind of plesiosaur, or a decendant thereof. They were thought to have become extinct at the same time as most dinosaurs. They were aquatic reptiles with long necks and bodies up to 46 feet long, according to fossil evidence.
Could there be a last lingering few of these creatures living deep in the waters of Loch Ness? It's a tantalizing mystery to ponder. So tell me, do you believe in Nessie?

Did you know that at a recent iron-man-type race that was held in and around Loch Ness, the participants were insured against a Nessie attack? :)

"Later, it emerged that the 196 competitors had been insured against attack from the Loch Ness Monster (known locally as "Nessie") as they swam and kayaked across the UK's most voluminous area of freshwater. Clearly tackling mountain biking, mountain running, abseiling, mountaineering, river crossing and gorge swimming were considered an acceptable risk - but Nessie was another matter..."

I believe in Nessie,it's one of those things your told about from childhood and you think that one day I'm going to visit Scotland and see for myself if Nessie is really there.*g*
There's something in the loch. Reliable witnesses (as well as more than a few frauds) have been reporting sightings since around 560 AD. But in spite of everything, nobody's figured out what it is. I love the Nessie mystery. I'm just know sure whether I want it to be solved. LOL
